About OBLIGATED TO EAT
The future of hip hop begins when a legacy is created...
OTE Runna born Christopher J. Proctor in Decatur, Ga represents the next generation of hip hop built on heritage, hustle, and an unbreakable will. Raised by a single mother with three sisters,OTE Runna grew up navigating the dual realities of the street and the studio, developing his voice in both worlds long before he knew music was his birthright.
His early mentor (stepfather at the time), Cedric Lyons, put him in the booth at age 11, recognizing that OTE Runna had the type of instinct and songwriting ability that can’t be taught. By his teens, he was a fixture in local showcases, forming Higher Grind Music Group with Tyrone Ward and New Orleans rapper Nizzy Davinci. But even with talent and momentum, OTE Runna carried weight no teenager should, dropping out in 9th grade and pushing through the instability of poverty, and losing the only father figure he had known outside of his uncle.
Determined to build a life for himself, he earned his GED through Job Corps, mastered the maintenance trade, and eventually traveled the country working on State of the art equipment/machinery hitting his first six figures from a W2 and reinvesting every dollar back into his music and his future. That discipline and hunger for money to invest and make this work eventually birthed Keep Money Financial, where he learned everything about the credit and money game to help himself and career but later helped people from his hometown and across the country secure homes, cars, business funding, and over $1M in client assets in 2025 alone.
But the biggest revelation came later in life.
OTE Runna always felt music was in him for a reason and at 18, he found out why. After a lifetime of uncertainty about who his biological father was, he learned the truth:
His father is T-Double of DFC, the legendary Flint duo tied to MC Breed and foundational Midwest gangsta rap.
The two reconnected, and OTE Runna quickly discovered that he and his father had nearly identical musical origin stories. It wasn’t coincidence, it was genetics.
That discovery plugged OTE Runna into an entire lineage. Through T-Double, he connected with Al Breed, cousin of MC Breed, and with Rodney Gee, a major behind-the-scenes figure in hip hop who managed DFC and Breed, lived inside the early Suge Knight / D.O.C. circle, and helped orchestrate collaborations linking Flint to Warren G and 2Pac. Rodney’s experience and vision pushed OTE Runna to build Obligated to Eat Records, mentoring him for years and preparing him to operate not just as an artist, but as a label owner.
Today, OTE Runna carries a legacy that spans Flint, Atlanta, and the West Coast, blending street truth, emotional depth, and entrepreneurial discipline into a sound that connects eras. His music reflects the hunger of someone who created his own lane, yet also honors the lineage of those who came before him, his father T-Double, Al Breed, and Rodney Gee, all of whom stand behind him as he steps into the spotlight.
This isn’t just a new artist rising. It’s a legacy awakening and OTE Runna is ready to take his rightful place in hip hop.
